Got this last year. Bought it from a guy that was going to scrap it. We were even on the other side of the scales at the scrap yard. HE DROVE IT IN! 350 5speed 2 speed rear. Ex state truck. Will do what I need it to.

Main plans are to keep it in one piece. Seriously. The truck has RUST issues. The body is close to toast. I've patched some, But it runs good and drives well. Heck the lift cylinder is only damp around the seal. Longer range plans do include a better cab/sheetmetal. Its got a Goodwrench 350 i it and an almost new radiator in it too.

Decent! You cn always use it to haul and dump things, right? Is that a C/50 or C/60?

Yes K its a 50. Thats the general Idea. Keep the lane maintained, if I can get the reg/ins issue figured out, I can stop into town for lumber, stone, etc.

Bit of an update. Rusty may be getting a facelift. Went on a parts run with the boy and the guy who had what we went for has a pile of other stuff. Well it's not really in a pile!!! Anyway he had a 80's crew cab that we spotted (turned out the sheet metal was crap. anyway, turned around and here was a GMC MD. Truck has a bit of rust, but NOWHERE near what I have. Heck, the running board doesn't even move when I step on it. Will update when I get money and time aligned.

That's what I love about these trucks, they were built to work, and there was no shame in it.
Problem is, they were treated so badly some are now rusted half to dust. My truck and this truck seem to be great examples of this. All's well that ends well!

Re: My rescued fiddy

Well with mine, it was used for it's intended purpose. State roads truck. Spreading salt in the winter. The "new" truck was owned by a roofing company(I think). Plans are to pull the front clip in one piece and then the cab. Then do the same with my truck. Quicky cab swap. While there is a bit of rust, even the cab corners are good. This will take a bit as I have to save up some cash.

Re: My rescued fiddy

Now the big question. If I get rid of all the rust, Am I going to have to rename the truck?????

Re: My rescued fiddy

Had to pick up some other stuff today for another project where the truck is. Might not get the clip. I say might because it has some of the same rust that I already have. Might just get the cab and swap it and put my clip back on. But I will put the new trucks fender extensions and running boards on though. We will see. After I get this project done, will pull Rusty up to the garage and do my triage.
