72 dash warning lights
 

my son took his 72 to school today and called me when he got there. He said a red light came on by the speedo. What warning lights will the 72 c10 have that are red and what should I look for.

Hmmm, red light on the Speedo side? It isn't the high beam indicator, is it? The are red in these trucks.

Only the high beam in the speedo, brake and temp in the fuel gauge

hm, maybe...... he might of hit it. It wasnt on when I warmed the truck for him this morning... are they red or blue high beam lights? what warning lights does the 1972 cluster have anyways

If it's the high beam light, it would not be on when the headlights are off. Is it a 3 hole or 7 hole (full gauge) cluster? The 3 hole has more warning lights.

As I recall, all vehicles had red high beam warning lights until sometime in the 70s. Certainly all GMs. Guess the industry standardized on blue since there were more idiot light dashes and people got alarmed when a red light came on, and the high beam light is not truly a warning light.

Is it the brake indicator light? It is red.

Have him step on the big ugly button behind the parking brake. I'll bet the light goes off.
