Re: New intake!
Oh, the thermostat was stuck open, reason for no heat. Put a new one in, heater worked great then heater core went out. Lol its one thing after another.

Re: New intake!
The rear rubber on the intake was split so it was leaking oil. Put black rtv on it and was pumped about fixing all my leaks. Turned the heater on only to find it leaking coolant in the cab. Going to tiff it out till I get more funds. Heater hadn't run in probably two years, and I assume its the original box. Ticking time bomb I guess. On the bright side I did a few burnouts.

Re: New intake!
Keep that rubber fuel line on there and it'll be more than a ticking time bomb.
A towering inferno instead!! |
Re: New intake!
What size line do I get? Its a regular mech pump and a q-jet. Not site which line I should get.

Re: New intake!
An edelbrock carb will let that intake shine on that engine add some headers and exhaust and there you go. The fuel line will be fine for now as long as its fuel grade rubber hose you don't want more than 6 inches of it though b

Re: New intake!
The rubber hose isn't the problem...the glass filter housing is... get a plastic one or better yet since you're running a qjet get a factory steel line the filter is in the inlet housing. Regarding changing to a eddy carb.... my advise.... don't do it. Spend that money and have someone good with qjets rebuild and tunee the one you have... better fuel economy plus will likely flow more and better than a square bore eddy. And if tuned properly will not have the delay in secondaries....the only real Downside to a qjet...but still minimally invasive. If you question the quality of a qjet try to buy one...$100 for one I. Tough shape $300 and up for a new or fresh rebuilt.

Re: New intake!
Im going to keep the q-jet. Has good response when needed. The motor has about 5k on it now. At some point ill get new heads(mabey vortec) put a roller in it to. I hope to get headers at some point, so many options for those lol. Just a estimate but its probably a little over 300hp right now. Quick Q why did gm block off the rear water passage in the stock intake? Seemed funny to me. Anywho im keeping a eye out for a metal line for the carb. Been enjoying fixing it up; sometimes is a headache but well worth it.
