bags with stock suspension
does anyone have pics of a lwb 60-66 with bags and stock suspension im just trying to see how low it will set at ride height thanks in advance

Re: bags with stock suspension
I have a short bed, changed my 4" drop springs with bags (already have the adj panhard). The ride is a lot better and I keep it at the same height as with the drop springs. The adj panhard is a must! I hope this helps.

Re: bags with stock suspension
im just trying to get an idea about how low i can gow with stock parts i am actually debating on lowering the spring pocket on my lower control arms 2 inches to get me down alittle more in the front

Re: bags with stock suspension
the only parts I bought for my rear drop were the bags or springs and the adjustable panhard bar.
I bought 2.5" drop spindles and 1.5" drop springs for the front. total im out @ $350. for the front and about $250. for the rear. not including shocks, which for my drop I used KYB, they were about $40 each. Remember when you drop the trucks suspension you have to change some stuff so the geometry is correct and the truck is manageable. you dont want it to wander all over the road or take 90* turns at 60mph if you let go of the wheel. my truck is in paint prison right now, or id get you some pix. |

So with bags,... I would say 3" lower is the best you will do,... unless you don't care about tire wear. The rest will depend on tire height and inner fender clearance at ride height. (the ability to turn) Adding disc brakes and drop spindles will get you an easy 2.5" drop. |
Re: bags with stock suspension
The first thing you MUST do is modify or remove the bumpstop mount.
This will help in the drop and give you more ride by increasing wheel travel. |

Re: bags with stock suspension
most of my stuff I bought here on the board, folks going different directions and I picked up the remnants. my bags I bought from a guy on CL that only used them for mock up.

Re: bags with stock suspension
so if a guy was on a tight budget which would be better doing drop spindles and drop springs or bags with a modified lower control arm

I went rear bags for adjustability. Had an 81 shortbed that was too low to go over stuff. The a-arms and headers just took a beating. it had 6-4 Belltech.
I had 275/60/15 rear 235/front now 295/45/18 rear about 28" and will goto 255/45/18 front 27". It still has the torsions in the front. Stock spindles. |
Re: bags with stock suspension
thats a good stance there i think i will go bags and just sink my spring pockets 2 inches so i think i will get 4-5 inches of drop in the front and 6 in the rear
