700r4 and 4l60e
Hey everyone I have a question I'm in the process of looking to get me a new tranny for my truck that th350 ain't cutting it for me haha
I'm looking into getting a 700r4 or 4l60e, what mods would have to be done to get it to fit? If I'm not mistaken isn't the 700r4 just a bolt in if I'm wrong please do correct me, but I'm trying to find out some more info on them. |
Re: 700r4 and 4l60e
The 700 is pretty much a bolt in. You have to slide the crossmember back, i set of holes should line up maybe both. drives shaft is the same. You will need to hook up the lockup and there is several ways of doing that.
The 4l60e is computer controlled. |
Re: 700r4 and 4l60e
Alright, awesome!!! I found one for about $200 here in Houston, so i was going to try and pick it up, because I want to put a 4 speed in the truck.

Re: 700r4 and 4l60e
driveshaft has to be shortened doesn,t it ?

Re: 700r4 and 4l60e
The 200R is about the same size as the 350...the 700R needs to have the driveshaft shortened.

Re: 700r4 and 4l60e
Okay, glad to know that I'm trying to see what I all need in advance that way I can prepare a little bit better for it.

If it has the short shaft then it will need to be shortened. |

Re: 700r4 and 4l60e
I know this might throw everyone for a twist but what all does it take to convert a th350 to a th400?
Please ignore this post. |
Re: 700r4 and 4l60e
What i was referring to was the 350 trans being a long shaft.

Re: 700r4 and 4l60e
rs72z, would it be possible to convert the 4l60e to run with a carb 305 or do you have any knowledge of it?

Yeah, and I'm sure the hassle of all the work to be done just to get it to fit wouldn't be worth it either.

Re: 700r4 and 4l60e
I don't know if you will like a 700r4 anymore than you will your th350 unless you do a bunch of highway driving. I have had both, and I like my th350 better than the 700. th350's tend to last longer than a 700 also. It just depends on what you are doing with it.
