Bummer of a day

1 Attachment(s)
On Wed. we had to put our dog to sleep. He was only 8 yrs old. He came down with lymphoma 3 months ago. Tue. night he just had to pant hard just to breath. It was time.
Clay has been my wife's shadow for the last 6 years. I wish I could say he was my dog also but some male beat him for a year before we got him so he did not trust any male. I finally got his trust this last year.
I will miss him dearly.
RIP Clay

Awww...I'm sorry to hear about poor Clay's fate. Dogs are such a part of the family and it's tuff when they pass on,whether it's put down or they die on you. I've never had to put one down. I was about to with my last dog,Buddy, and the night I had decided to go get a vet's opinion he died

I'm a big dog-lover. This poem has helped me in the past....

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

This thread has my eye's leaking! Sometimes I think animals are better friends than humans.

Dude, You made my eyes water up! No sh**! I have never seen that before and I dont mind sharing that here. As I read memories of my past best buddies were running thru my head. I too have lost some of my best friends mostly to old age and one also had to be put down with lymph. I tried and tried more than half of my paycheck many a time went to expensive drugs to see if it maybe would change things until the Vet said it was time. Pets are truly a big part of our lives and families.
