'72 C/10 Suburban Doors
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys/gals. New member to the forum & my first question pertains to doors. Iam in the middle of restoring my burb & iam finding that my driver & passenger doors will likely need replacement. I will initially look for good used ones first due to budget constraints. I have heard that the '71 Suburban doors are a little different than the '72's therefore rendering them a useless swap out. Is this true ? In various photos I have seen of the two years they appear identical.
Much thanks for any input. |

Welcome to the forum!
The doors are functionally and in fitment the same. But there is a subtle difference in the wind wing fasteners, and if I remember correctly there is an external screw with a dimple in the inner door sill on the '72. I maybe wrong, but that is all I can think of and one of the other members will chime in sooner or later on this. |

Welcome! Love your white Burb!
The screw difference Chris pointed out applies to the front door, and is really the only difference. The rear doors should be the same, save for the length of the door opener and window crank, due to the '72 panels being thicker than 67-71. But even then, it shouldn't be a problem to switch over your current hardware and panels to your "new" rear door. |

Chris/Nate:
thanks for the confirmation on the doors differences. I found a local source for a driver & passenger door (rust free) off of a '71 burb which I will now go get. Fortunately, the rear door is in good condition. Just completed a full resto on the interior (see pic) & am now starting the prep on the exterior & new paint afterwards. Hope to have it completed this summer. Again, thanks guys. What a wealth of info this site provides it's members. Cheers |
