Going to buy spindles. Have a question
I keep hearing about buy spindles according to the rotor size. I hear 1in and 1 1/2 inch. What am I measuring?
I am going to get 2 1/2 in drop spindles for the front and 2in shackles for the rear and call it done. I was also reading where I need to get spindles with the correct placement for the tie rod ends so they dont get into a bind. I did'nt quite understand that but maybe someone could chime in on that. Anything else I need to buy to go along with this? My truck is a 82 short wheelbase two wheel drive that is sitting stock right now. |
Re: Going to buy spindles. Have a question
Measure the thickness or width of the rotor where the caliper clamps on it, during braking.
It will be 1" or 1-1/4" |
Re: Going to buy spindles. Have a question
I have no idea what tie rod issue you are referring to.
Where are you getting this info? |
Re: Going to buy spindles. Have a question
I heard this from a guy at a alignment place. I did'nt understand completely what he was saying. Something about the spot where the tie rod end mounts to the spindle needs to be at the same level as it was stock. I figured that if people are running drop spindles then they must be made right.

Re: Going to buy spindles. Have a question
The alignment guy is confused. I got the house brand spindles from Summit racing. They were the "ground force" brand. They haven't broken in 3 years of use. I recommend them.
