she's in primer

Spent just about all day tryin to smooth the ole girl out n get some primer on her,I am pleased with the way its turning out mainly because it wont be several different colors.
Will a lil wet sanding with lets say some 1000 grit take out the streaks? I don't have a paint gun so I just went for it redneck style. http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/...psd92e01a9.jpg

Are you going to paint it or leave it primer. The 1000 grit paper will make it look better but it will not be good to paint over. If you are painting, then 600 grit will work for a single stage paint.

I once had a 71 Chevy Nova that I used 28 cans of Krylon Fire Engine Red on, let it set for a month and rubbed it with rubbing compound and then polishing compound and it looked very good. Wish I had a photo of it now.

I am going to roll with the primer for a while, theres to many other things to spend money on right now. i also rattle canned the grill and top just to keep with the color scheme I had in mind. I have only gone through five cans so far, the rust-oleum primer covers so much better than the generic brands I have used before.

Looks good. Mine is Rustoleum satin midnight blue. Used 8 cans and I didnt do the hood/firewall or interior. Some areas didnt get enough paint so you can see hints of original paint. I went with the can deal cause I figured I am gonna use this truck to the max. Dont want to worry about scratches and what not. WOrk in progress.

Try a scotchbrite pad first on that and see if that won't calm down the tiger stripes. Good luck . Jim

Thats a good idea Jim, didn't think of that. At least now I can see the rough spots better and fix them as I go, and just buy another can as needed. I don't see a paint job coming anytime soon, just wanna drive it and enjoy for right now.
