Gas pedal hard to push

Ever since I bought my truck my Gas pedal has been really stiff. Even after I replaced the throttle cable its still stiff. It doesn't normally bother me but since I have to drive so far to work and my cruise control doesn't work I'm just getting tired of the pedal being so stiff. It really sucks sometimes because the way you have to push it is all or nothing. Any ideas why its so stiff?

you need leg muscles:p

I got them. It sucked though after driving car for two months thats fine then switching back to this. It took awhile to build that right leg back up. :D

Disconnect the TV cable (assuming you have the 700R4) and try. Every little thing helps. Disassemble and clean the pedal assembly inside the cab, replace the cable or lubricate, lube the tv cable and spray carb cleaner on the linkages. It will still be stiff but slightly more tolerable.:(

you probably have a EDDY 1406 and have the double return spring

The throttle kit came with two springs but we had to take one of them off because with both of them on there the only way to push the pedal down was to stand on it. So now I just have one spring. When I was working on my q-jet I didn't have the spring connected and the pedal felt great but when I put it back on it got alot tighter.Would shortening the throttle cable so that there isn't as much slack help out alot.

try eplacing the throttle return spring sometimes they are too small and make it harder to push

i've got this same problem, and i have double springs on the edelbrock, it was all or nothing, and i only have my permit, so my parents have to ride with me all the time, and they would always say, "What was that for?!" when i'd hit the gas because it was so hard to push down, and it'd go all the way to the floor once i did get it pushed down, what i did to help out a little (but not much) was strech the springs a little so it wouldnt be so stiff, this only helped a little.. i hate having this problem though, and know what you mean..

I had the same prob with the POS 1406 edelbrock. It was new out of the box and did this. I put some oring lube on the black nub that I assume is for the fuel pump that is in the carb. This worked for me. I will never buy one again as they are JUNK in my opinion. Just me though so no comments please!! Great for cheap replacment part but not a performance piece.

Hey I streched out the spring and its alot easier now. I also had to buy a new throttle cable so that might have helped too.

lol, anyone know why my brakes would be insanely stiff? I push on them and they brake NOW, instant lockup without putting them all the way down... Now, I am not complaining too much, better than none :p But it would be nice to soften em' up a bit...

regarding the stiff throttle, I have a new cable and it was real stiff out of the box.. so I took a can of lithium grease (spray can) and sprayed some into the cable sheath then used compressed air to force it all the way thru the sheath.. it helped a lot .. in fact its about ready for it again..

btw, the factory double throttle spring is superior to others.. I dont know why you guys are dissin it..
