changing shape of the cab ???
 

Hy all,

did anybody ever try to change the look of the cab of a 47-53 pickup..?

I would like to get a more aggressiv look...such as the chey pickup from 55 and older, or the Ford Pickup.

Finally i guess the aggressive look is depending of the stance of the windscreen pillar....

The years 47-53 does have windscreen pillar which is leaning backwards...

A lot of people chopped the cab...but in all cases they did never change the stance of the pillar..

I hope u understand what i mean and hope to see some pics ...

i am just thinking about to install the upper part of a ford pickup cab on the chevy cab...

I'm not quite following what you are saying but here is how I leaned the posts back on my 48 when I chopped it.
This is an ancient photo but shows the profile after I chopped it 4 inches and leaned the posts back rather than stretching the top.

No photos but pancakeing (sectioning) the hood might help to, reduces the bulkliness of the front clip.

But this is exactly what i meant...

I would prefer to lean the posts forward and to strech the top..

The best look i would prefer is the design of the chey 55 or ford pu..

as you can see on the pic...the posts are leaned forward, also i would try to install the windshield of the 55´s...

i have to add something..

The best example is the Ford pickup...

As u can see on the pics the years after 55 do have the posts leaned forward ....so in my opinion it looks alot better and more aggressiv

On and AD truck that would end up looking like the top of the cabin of a fishing trawler.
You would end up with an AD truck looking something like this boat.

I'm a pretty serious customizer in that I chop my trucks, stretch, section and otherwise modify them but I still want the general truck to fully resemble the Advanced design truck that it started out as and be readily recognizable as such.

If you want a wrap around windshield buy a truck with a wrap around windshield. Otherwise I think you will probably end up with a pile of scrap metal that you end up hauling to the local scrap yard after a failed attempt at making it radical.

u r probably right...i would never give it a try without any pics..

So if it not done yet...i am surely not the first :-)

But let see maybe there are some freaks around

I think that would be a HUGE undertaking. For me the biggest challenge: what would you do about the door glass frame? You'd have to fab a door from scratch.

i guess the easiest way would be to adapt the whole upper part of a ford pickup cab....also the upper part of the doors.

surely it takes a lot of metal work....

If you did graft the upper cab of a f*rd (moderators won't let me use the "F" word, ha ha)
on to an AD truck, what would you want to keep the same?
In other words, why would you want to do this to an AD truck instead of starting out with a 55 or 57 chevy?

to get the personal touch on my truck :-) just choking

....as i already said...i would like to get a more aggressive look..

and as u can see on the Ford pics ....thats the point, at least for me.

Maybe it would be a good idea to trade the AD truck for a 55´s.

But here in Germany those kind of trucks are not common , so i will not find any for trading....
