Floor board patching

Hey everyone I have a 49 5 window chev and am about to patch the floor boards. The only part that is rusted is the flat spots before the angle piece under the dash. Have you guys bought the sheet metal pre cut or is it bes/cheaper to cut it yourself?? If it is what guage sheet metal is best for this and to make a trans tunnel?? Thanks everyone and peace

When I did mine, it was cheaper for me to cut it out my self. As I only had 4 little sections to repair and not the whole floor section. and if i remember correctly I used 18 gauge.

I think it relates to how much you have to replace/repair. Sometimes you only need to replace a small part of the panel and sometimes it's better to buy a designed replacement panel and replace the whole thing.

On of the cabs I have out back suffered from some real haphazard and amateur modifications (think galvanized tin and pop rivets) and will have to have most of the toe panel and firewall replaced if it ever gets used on a project.
