Lowering a 1-Ton Crew Cab
I have a 1979 GMC 1 ton crew cab dually that I have lowered using Belltech 3" spindles and 4" shackles in the rear. The truck has quite a bit of "rake" still and I am trying to figure out how to level the stance out.
Does anyone have experience lowering these older trucks? Can I go any lower with stock leaf springs, de-arching, or is the only answer to use airbags? Is there a flip kit available for these trucks. Seems to be strictly half tons for flip kits. I don't want to sacrifice all my load capacity as I plan to use the truck to tow moderate loads occasionally. Any help is appreciated. |
You say you used 4" shackles?? Never heard of 4" shackles, only 2". So, I'm guessing this is what you used. All you need to do now is add the hangers for a full 4" of drop in the rear. From what I understand, all the flip kits for C30's are in the range of 7 to 8". I'm not exactly sure on this though. I do know they do sell shackle and hanger kits for 4" of drop.

Shackles/Hangers Combo
My mistake. This is what I alreaday have - 2" shackles + 2" hangers = 4" drop. Still too much rake. Looks like I may have to go flip kit + bags
