anyone just dread it?

I am about to order about 13 hundred worth of part (still probably a few nickel and dime stuff left) and am kinda dreading it. ya i want my truck to be "done" (it wil change alot i am sure before i sell it) but i its such a big order. where to you guys go through? i see lmc is a bit cheaper than brothers but i like the fact that brothers has pics and i know what i am getting. plus i dont think lmc sells somethings in pairs. anyone know where to go through.

I wasn't happy with some of the stuff I got from LMC. I've had good luck with Brothers, Classic Parts of America, and H-H Classic Parts. That's just my opinion..

Classic Parts of America will be your best bet, Brother's has good parts and all but they backorder a lot of stuff.

Re: anyone just dread it?

Classic parts has a running discount of 10% if you use promo code "stovebolt"... LMC's shipping charges suck, but I read somewhere on here the other day thatthey had free shipping on orders over $1k. I would call them and ask.

Well, that's where Classic Parts has free shipping over $350. Just my opinion. :metal:

Another vote for Classic parts. They are usually the best on prices and always on service IMO.

Classic parts all the way. As said above, use stovebolt as promo. Ship really quick. Prices are just as good as lmc on most stuff. Dread spending the money only... I'm always jacked knowing I got a big package that's going to be sitting there when I get home. Gets me motivated!

Avoid buying anything from LMC if at all possible. You'll end up either beating whatever it is to fit, or you'll just end up throwing it away and buying the same item from somewhere else.

I've had to rebuy an entire suspension rebuild kit, piece by piece, as I was installing it because either parts from LMC wouldn't fit or the build quality was just complete and utter crap.

No single fastener that I have ever ordered from them has fit.

Their shipping charges are horrendous, and most of the time the same parts can be had from another vendor while they are on sale or via a discount code.

Most people I know use the LMC catalog for the only thing it's good for - as a reference when showing someone else a part you need to order: "I need to order a part but I don't know what it's called." "Do you have the Winter 2012 LMC Chevy truck catalog?" "Yes." "OK, what page is the piece you need to order on, and what part number?"

I've had very good luck with Brothers and CPP, and I hear very good things about Classic Industries, The Truck Shop, and many of the board members. I can and will personally vouch for Tkorinek, GMCPaul, and Pro Performance.

Further to the LMC angle....I've never bought much from them but what I did buy turned out to be pretty marginal quality. The purchase was underhood decals and I will be replacing them again probably this spring and hopefully will have better luck with a different vendor. Whatever was masquerading for (photocopy?) ink on these decals has almost completely washed off...leaving a pretty flimsy piece of white stuff...plus delayed/slow UPS shipping. LMC? Never again, no way, no day.
As for the initial purchase price point...yeah, its something to be a little nervous about I suppose (particularly if its LMC:lol:). Sort of depends on what the item is and what role it plays in your restoration or upgrade.
Good luck with it either way...and remember you can always get some money back by selling your replaced parts if they are still in good condition.;)

I have ordered quite a bit from Classic Parts and so far have been happy with the stuff I got.

My son likes LMC because they give him a 10% discount. I have bought some stuff from them and have never had a problem. I bought a cowl hood and radiator support from them on my last build. The radiator support fit ok, but the cowl hood had to be massaged a little to have a decent fit.

You might try some of the vendors that are on the board that are close to you. I have heard good things about GMC Pauls and Classic Heartbeat.

One good thing about LMC is it has a real good catalog that can be used as a reference guide.

i love it. I like buying stuff. Drives my wife nuts. ;)
LMC has been good to me so far, but I dont have a long history to see if the stuff falls apart quickly.
their website is great and so was the customer service when i got a wrong part.. I wouldnt buy hardparts online anyway, i bring them to my local parts house. Its all chinese crap anyway.

Re: anyone just dread it?

I haven't bought a lot from them, but I've had pretty good luck with LMC.
Having said that, I live probably 10 minutes from LMC headquarters and can go to the counter, which means I get to see, touch and feel everything before I buy it. Also don't have to worry about shipping charges.

I actually prefer Classic Parts -- much cooler showroom -- but they're all the way across the city, so not as convenient.

:cong:Bravo!:bann: You did the smart thing! Wes (Classic Heartbeat) and GMC Paul are the 2 of the best for quality stuff. I order the majority of my AM parts from them.
