85' Trans-Am T-5

Is this a good fit for an AD pickup soon to have a 68' inline 250?

O.K....Lets try this. What year of S-10 T-5 should I be looking for?

It would work great...but you need the tail section out of a S-10 to get the shifter in a usable place.

The car versions of the T-5 are actually more desireable because of the taller OD.

The main rub with it is that the shifter will be back right at the seat where it is when you put a car four speed in one of these trucks or maybe a tad further back than that. It's comfortable to shift but your girlfriend might slap you if she is sitting in the middle. Guys like the S-10 shifter because it puts the shift handle up close to where the original floor shift handle was.

Also some of those "car transmissions used a bellhousing that had the bolt pattern to bolt the trans on at a slight angle to tilt the trans so the shifter sat upright. You bolt it to a regular Chevy bellhousing and the shifter leans at an odd angle. This link might work for a few days yet.

You guys think its worth it to buy one and replace the tail section with an S-10 or should a guy just find an S-10 one and be done with it?
