Looking to modify my 01 6.0 2500hd for torque

Would like to increase the towing performance and have some fun with the truck. Read this as torque and efficiency are what I care about. Not horsepower. No, I don't want a diesel. This truck has low miles, the right options/colors and I only like the 01 and 02 hd body styles so I'm not afraid to put money into it.

I'm thinking about either a magnuson supercharger to add about 150ft lbs or cam/tune/headers that would probably add 100 ft lbs. The cam/dynotune/high end headers would probably cost $4000 and the magnuson would cost about $5500.

i like the easier ability to remove the magnuson should I decide to sell the truck in the future and i think it will allow more torque. What do you guys think is best?

You would be surprised at how much power a good tune and a couple of bolt ons will add to these trucks. They were extremely detuned from the factory. Might want to start with that and see if it's what your looking for. Superchargers are nice but with the potential these have with say just even a tune, cam, heads, headers, good exhaust, and CAI, personally I would go that route. If you start getting really carried away be prepared to spend money on the trans as well.

I have to agree with bighaas79. I've got a 2000 Sierra 1500 with a 5.3. It's ridiculous how much differance a cold air intake, a programmer, and exhaust sytem make.

Scratch that $4000 estimate. You could do heads/cam/intake and full bolt ons for that or less. I did cam, longtubes, cai, full exhaust and tune for around 1300 and it really woke up my 5.3. Look into calspeed performance for the headers, great product for the price. Call around and get a cam spec'd for what you want out of it, which it more torque. As long as you do things yourself it can be done low cost.
