Anyone run CPP 4" rear HD drop springs?
I currently have a pair of ECE 4" drop springs in the rear of my '64 panel. I like where these springs put me stance-wise, but they seem a little too soft for hauling much around. I have a boat and gear I like to take on trips occasionally. With everything loaded up, I'm nearly on the bumpstops.
I found out CPP offers 4" springs in a 'heavy-duty' variant. Anyone use em before? Are they truly more 'HD' than the regular springs? |
Re: Anyone run CPP 4" rear HD drop springs?
Are yours really the HD ones?? The first ones that I bought from ECE were NOT HD... I sent them back and they send the right ones to me.. (yes--I asked for the HD ones when I made the original purchase..) Both sets look entirely different in the spring thickness and their obvious weight.

We tried a set of CPPs 4" drop HD rear springs in our burb...pretty much was at the bumpstops when ya put a foot on the bumper  We returned them.
Stock on the left, HD 3/4 ton PU rear springs in the middle (what we're running now), CPP 4" drop HD springs on the right... |

I don't think those on the right are HD--those are the same ones I originally got before they exchanged em for the middle ones--HUGE difference

Oh wow. Surely those don't both give a 4" drop? The ones in the middle must be stock height 'HD' springs? Hard to know.

Contact Coil Spring Specialties in St. Marys, Kansas. I have first hand knowledge that they supply several of the vendors with their springs.
I have talked to them about towing with a lowered truck. I was told that my best bet would be a two stage spring. By dealing with the manufacturer, you can get exactly what you need. They will build a spring that will work for a specific application, and you can buy direct from them. |

I have 4" drop springs and I can tow my trailer...slowly, so now I am putting air bags on the rear for the towing adjust ability.

I was just about to suggest airbags out back but Clyde65 beat me to it.
