Auto meter tach reading low
I have been runinng this monster tach without issue for some time. Well I got moved to TX and go to take it for a spin. Well I notice that the tach is reading low compared to the VHX cluster tach. I have done the ground thing, even added two more chassis to firewall /frame.... I am running one lead off the MSD and then I have a hard connection to split the feed into both the auto meter and the DD cluster.. This was working flawless for several months.. Ideas??

Re: Auto meter tach reading low
Why do you need both? Your not taking the AutoMeter tach off for shows are you?

Re: Auto meter tach reading low
I really do not look at the CC VHX tach at all. Only the auto meter. Not the point though it worked before.. Just a post to see if any one has run into this

Re: Auto meter tach reading low
I had a memery recall go bad on me second round of season opener . 5" Autogauge by autometer . Swapped back to my older dial for shift light autometer and was good to go the next day .

Re: Auto meter tach reading low
I gotta be honest,,, I rarely look at ANY gauge on the track, Air shifting, data logging, big a$$ warning lights for low oil pressure and shift light is set more for a ut-oh it's over-revving.... I figure things will take care of themselves. I learned that going down track,, by the time you see something wrong in the gauges it's kinda like the idiot lights...... just tells you what went wrong, what switch you forgot to turn on, etc.
Seriously... if you have time to monitor the gauges,, your not fast enough (LOL, just to poke at Steve a bit!) Steve I don't know about the VHX dash, but Dakota has some specific instructions when using a ignition box. I know u said you checked grounds,, check the tach ground (make sure its grounded to a unpainted surface etc) then send it back. I've been seeing a MAJOR downturn in the quality of Autometer stuff lately. |
Re: Auto meter tach reading low
I only use the shift light on the upshift but more so I want it to work correctly .. I agree that the quality has gone down hill
