Vent window Rubber and Side window Installation
 

A helpful hint for others who may be struggling with this...

Vent Window Replacement Rubber:

On the vent window rubber, After a few hours of using everything I could think of to try and lube the new rubber to get it to go into the channel correctly that wouldnt cause rubber damage or peel off the paint I had shot on the frame, I went to the bedroom and got the KY water based massage oil.... and it went right in where it was supposed to sit in less than 3 minutes... So your KY now has a new use in the garage!:lol: I cursed a few times at how easy it went in with the KY and how I didnt think of this earlier....

Side Window Installation:

After tearing my window tinting twice, I new I needed a new technique to get the side window in....

1) tape the top of the door where the window will go in
2) slide the roller in on the door channel and put in the top front screw in the hole and tighten just enough for the regulator to rotate. and one other screw of your choice just a few threads you will take this screw out in step 6
3) roll the window all the way up so the window rollers stick out of the door channel
4) slide the rollers in the window channel
5) roll the window all the down
6) pull out the second screw from step 2 and roll down the window just a little more to tip the top front of the window back to open up just enough extra space to slide the vent window in. Be sure to make sure that the glass clears the edge of the regulator so you dont gouge the window or tint.
7) slide in and tip the ventilator assembly in and slide into place
8) Make sure the back bottom of the main window is in the channel and roll up the window enough to place the rest of the regulator screws back in and tighten them down
9) screw down the ventilator assembly.

This method was curse free and didnt require sheding of blood like the first two times I tried to get the window in...

So... you put the window glass in FIRST, then the vent window???

I can tell ya this i am not looking forward to reasembling the wings and
doors after paint

Yes. I had the whole side buttoned up in under 10 minutes using this method.

Good info, Adam! I usually bleed AND cuss when doing any sort of window/regulator/vent window job.

Is there anyone or company that rebuilds vent windows?

There is but the last I checked it was pretty pricey! The rivet gun, and rubbers, and sandpaper and paint can be had for MUCH cheaper.

You can buy new ones for around $200 each. Most vendors sell them. I recently bought a pair from classic parts when they still had a 10% off promo code and they were $180 each. I would have rebuilt some originals but mine were rusted out and I couldn't find any others that had decent chrome.
