2013 Detroit Autorama - Show pics

My friend and I attended the Autorama car show in Detroit this past weekend. This is the show that they hand out the "Ridler award" for the most outstanding car/truck that has never been shown before. It was the 50th anniversary of this award.

I took my camera and snapped close to 100 pics. I have attached most truck relevant pics. I might add a Photobucket link to the rest if people are interested.

Enjoy the show.

This one was cool. It started out as a Suburban. I bet Orge likes the trunk. It reminded me of his truck. From the before picture it looked like they started with a decent Suburban.

Up on jack stands being worked on.....ha ha.
I'm in the middle of trying to finish my interior. Even if it were finshed I would not have shown it at this show. I'm not a big fan of indoor car shows, plus with MI weather you really need an enclosed car trailer which I don't have.

I'd think that your truck deserves to do Cobo Hall once after you have it completely done even if you aren't a big fan of showing in indoor shows. I'd have to believe that there are a number of guys who show in the same class that are very glad you didn't take it.

I'd enjoy seeing the rest of the photos you have in the Photobucket album. It's always interesting to see a number of albums of the same shows as everyone includes a number of different vehicles that were left out of other albums.

i was there sat nite from 4 to 10:30 and totally miss that suburban. to bad, it does look pretty sweet.
lot of nice cars, trucks and bikes there, plus it gives me a badly needed car fix in a long salty winter.
upstairs is the shiny stuff. the basement has projects, drivers and (groan) rat rods
sadly most of those vehicles will never see anything but the inside of a trailer.
that 55 tf was very nice, but it had inner fenders that prevented the wheels from turning very far, it probably had a 100 ft turning radius.
i equate a vehicle that someone won't drive to having a girlfriend or wife that you won't have sex with, ''i'm saving her for the next guy'' :D
i drive my truck often :D:D:D

this suburban looks like what i planned for my 59 panel.
i might have to resurrect those plans

I agree..
I will admit that I liked it...I instantly thought of you when I saw the trunk. There was not much info on the builder. I think that it had MI plates.

I was there from 9:30 - 2:00. I agree with all of your comments. The difference between the upstairs and downstairs is like two totally different shows...The people watching downstairs is more intresting.

I agree about liking to drive them apposed to starring at them sitting in a garage.

I did as well. I took a pic of the business card and tried to research the builder and owner but came up empty. I know that is was build in the Detroit area.

On a side note. I would like to have the roof they cut off. I would use it to turn a panel (no offense) into a suburban. The price for panels is more resonable than a Suburban. I'm not sure how difficult it would be but a person could cut out the side window channles and weld them into the side of panel. Again just one of my random thougths...ha ha

Re: 2013 Detroit Autorama - Show pics

youngrodder, trust me I know what you are saying. There was a roof I had seen on another site a few years ago and it had the wheels in my head turning. I figured shipping would kill it or the shipper would kill it. I always look at the suburbans and think I could probably covert mine to one. Then I think I am finally driving it and let it alone.

Who ever did it, did a great job on it. There was a lot of metal work done on it. I WOULD love to see the build pictures of it. I alway hate when you look someone up from a magazine or a show and your search comes up blank.

Shannon
