air bag help

Good afternoon all,
im new to the airbag ideas but im thinking of adding airbags to my AD project. im wanting to lift it a little. My question is can i use airbags to add a little lift. and if so would driving when they were filled give a smoother ride?
Thanks for the help in advance

Depends how you do it, I know there are guys with lifted trucks that add bags in a way that is seperate from the static suspension (not exactly sure how) but if you plan to put it between your leaf springs and frame it will ride like a brick when aired up. If your planning on just bags then you would need to set it up so that your desired ride height is right when the bags are partially inflated you could then go higher from there but could not let all the air out while driving

How much additional lift are you hoping to achieve? Stock leaf sprung suspension?

not sure on how much additional lift. im wanting to keep the original leaf springs but didnt know if an airbag system to boot would help with the ride quality

Re: air bag help

You would probably be better off finding someplace that custom makes leaf springs. When I had leafs on my Jeep I used a shop in Colorado. We measured each corner weight and they built a custom spring pack. A little taller but much better ride. I actually ended up with more leafs but a better ride. Springs lose their lift and ride quality as they age. A military wrap is 2 leafs at the eye and take some of the weight off the longest spring. They can also wrap the eye in the opposite direction to give you a little lift.

I would think adding air bags would have adverse effects by not allowing the leafs to work like they should.
