Drop spindle question!

I bought a full drop kit for my 98 dually and turns out it was for a 1/2 ton 92-98, a buddy of mine said it will work on my 84 if I turn the tie rods upside down? Anyone do this? I was going to sell it but if it'll work I'll dig my 84 out and drive her again!
