After market dash cluster
Does anyone know where I can get a aftermarket gauge cluster. Something along the lines of autometer gauges or something like that. I know there are company who make them for camaros and mustangs etc. Thatks
|
Dakota Digital is the only one I know of. Most people hate the digital and it cost $700.
|
This place was supposed to make some - give them a call: http://www.covansclassic.com/

I need some new gauges and would also like some links if anyone has them. I've yet to find a place that sells any that look good, and ya Dakota Digital looks like 80's retro stuff. Reminds me of Knight Rider :)

Mike has a how-to on his site for replacing the gauges in your cluster with modern ones. http://www.73-87.com The site seems to be down right now, but it is a good article.

I have often thought of selling my setup with gauges and all and the tach too. If I could get enough out of it I would do it and get the dakotas. :)
|
Does anyone on the site have the entire dakota cluster installed?
I would like to see it all complete and on. Not a digital fan, but still interestd in seeing it in a members truck. |
Hey! I like knight rider! It's my ringtone too!!! lol our trucks are 80's remember???
|
take a look at the dakota digital website - they should have a pic in there. If not, look at the ads in the truck magazines, there's usually one in those too. If I'm not mistaken, www.classicindustries.com sells them too, they may have a pic.

I don't think he can affords them...he spends too much money on the 305 and primer! :D ...Jeff |

For the money I'd go with Swervin's setup over the Dakota. Autometer are probably more reliable. Plus if you have an electrical short the gauges aren't going to fry out on you. |

I'm definitely not a fan of the digital guages. I like the look of the Autometers. The have several new styles that are very nice!!! |
The thing about needle type gauges is you can read them faster at a glance. Plus I love watching needles sweeping all around. I sit at the stop light and rev the engine so i can watch the tach, oil pressure, and volts jump around :)

Mine are actually Inteltronix (?). The oil guage uses the stock sending unit. I only had to change the temp sending unit. I've used mine for over two years with no problems.
No more money on the 305 or primer. All going to the engine and further drop. |
