Swap "granny gear" 4speed to a m20 4 speed muncie

Hello,

I have a 1968 c10 stepside with a 350 and a 4 speed manual. I can pick up a muncie M20 for a good price. Has anyone ever installed one of these in their truck? Is it something that is fairly easy to do without any major modifications? Is there a better inexpensive transmission solution I could look at? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thx

$400 for the trans, I think the rear end is running 4:11 but I'm not sure.

If the trans is in good shape, its a "smokin deal"....most likely a 3.73 gear on a 1/2 ton truck. I like to pull the gears way south on the box.....read the sig, 3.28/2.14/1.57/1.24/1 /.76 When the yougest kid had that old truck to 5700, in 5th gear....I told him either back of , or pull the next gear...she is allready @ 125;) You dont want to play with the M-21-22 (2.20 1st gear)...too tall(good on the strip, with a 4.56 or 4.88 gear), & you will row the snot out of that box, in that 1320 ft ride! crazyl

Minus needing a shifter for the Muncie and making a new hole for it should be a direct swap can even use the same clutch. I love m20's there a great trans with the right rear end I had one in a olds and with the rear end in that car holy crap shifting to 4th at 80 was fun dissent seem like I was reconfigure it that high either . Granted it would be better with a 5 speed but the cash they are wanting is not bad at all
