59 rear bumper help please

While waiting for a passenger side window regulator( my new one was bad), I thought I'd tackle putting the rear bumper on, but the rear valance which looks custom, is kind of in the way and has no cuts for the bumper brackets.
Just curious to see how a rear bumper is bolted up? Darn, thought this was going to be easy:(

step side brackets should work on that. They did sit lower than the valance yours is just a custom one. The brackets bolt to the side of the rails.

Thanks Dave! Just not anxious to drill large square holes to accommodate the bumper brackets:(. Well, tomorrows project; )

I'll be making holes in my rear roll pan when I get that far.

Here's how the bumper mounts.

Thank you for that picture! So the brackets sandwich the frame? Oh it's called a roll pan! Well, I'll be working on this this morning; )
Thanks again!

Here is reference photo I grabbed to help you get it at the right height. At first I thought it was low but you have not notched the roll pan yet. That is a nice looking bumper.

Thank you Orrie~ looks just like my bumper! Darn that's a good looking truck that you posted!:) That valance or roll pan it a PITA! or I mean putting holes through it to match the bumper brackets which swoop down, not straight out. I got it on but it's sitting a little lop sided, not much and I will tend to that later, at least it's off the floor and out of the way.

Yeah, I was thinking notches in the roll pan for the bumper brackets. Your Chrome bumper looks good. What are you using for a tag light?. I'm going back with the stock license bracket and tag light.

Hey G&R57 GMC. What model is your receiver. I've been looking at a similar set up. Did you find one that fit the frame rails (not universal type).

Sorry for the hijack....back to regular programming....

Re: 59 rear bumper help please

If you look on #3, you can just catch part of the tag light. Looks like a tag light that I've seen on bumpers. Mine has two tag lights. I didn't want to make notches all the way into the roll pan in fear that may cause a rattle. so the opening is like a very thin retangular cut which btw was a pain. I actually am not finished, I only put the inner bumper brackets in. When I have the truck up on the lift, I'll get after the outter brackets~ I have to think about those. It would either be a very large square for both brackets or make access for the other brackets to come through. Darn it's difficult to describe~ I'll have to get more pictures~;)
