vent window gaskets?
So I need new vent window gaskets, are the ones from Classic parts good, or should I spend an extra 20 and get the ones from precision? anyone had experience with the two?

Re: vent window gaskets?
Did you purchase your vent seal?
I've got a vent window on our 86' C30 dually that I need to fix. Leaks air like crazy at highway speeds. |

Re: vent window gaskets?
I ordered the ones from LMC for my 86. Need to replace them though on account I didn't install them right the first time. Apparently, the newer ones have two flaps at the bottom, and they don't BOTH go inside the door :dohh::banghead:
They were thicker and seemed more durable. Not sure about the ones you're looking at though. |
Re: vent window gaskets?
I ordered mine from the truck shop in Orange California which were Precision. I found a video on Precisions youtube channel that shows some good tips to make the installation pretty easy. Not sure how the vents are on the 81-87's but this is the video for the 73-80. Hope this helps.

Re: vent window gaskets?
Thanks for posting the video BVANT1. Something to remember on the 81-87 is the difference between 2 piece and one piece design. They are not interchangeable and is one of the most frustrating things I hear from customers.
The two piece design was typically 81-85 and the one piece was 85-87. However I've seen differences in this also. The best way to check is to pull back the division bar glassrun. If you see fold over metal tabs, that will be the two piece design. Let me know if I can help any further. Derek |
Re: vent window gaskets?
Definitely check what type you need before you buy! I bought the one piece seals for vent windows that came out of a 1989 Suburban and it turned out to have the 2 piece design. I wasted a lot of time trying to rebuild my vent window before I figured out the seals wouldn't work.
