Unbending Brake Lines Smoothly?
 

I just got my Inline Tube brake lines in the mail and the two long lines were bent in half so they would fit in the box.The bend is a half circle about 6 inches across and I don't want to kink it unbending it and I would prefer it to come out smoothly.
Any ideas on getting it unbent and still looking halfway decent?
Should I just cut out this section and a small length of tubing?
If I knew this was what I was getting I would never have bought it.

I'd call the company and ask how they propose you unFUBAR the lines they sent.

Shipping bends are required to ship all lines over 6 feet in length. This bend is a large-radius bend that is the same as a 5 gallon bucket. The tubing is not stressed so the bend is easily straightened to the original form. To remove the shipping bend, simply unroll the section marked between the tags on a flat surface such as a table or garage floor. Use the floor as a straight edge. Whatever gentle bend is left, straighten by hand. When the tube is straight you are done.


Not much help as my bends are 6 inches and not a 5 gallon bucket in size.

The guy on the phone said use my garage floor as a straight edge and if it doesn't work send them back.
Looks like I'm headed to the brake shop to have some parts made.

5 gal bucket radius I can see, 6" not so much. Easy to mess that up. Good luck.

Funny I just got my brake lines from POL and they are bent as well. Mine look to be quite easy to bend back straight.

You should be able to do what the guy on the phone said. I've have them shipped to work all the time like that. Just get a helper to hold the lines flat on the floor and slowly roll it out. There are some hand forming pliers that could help. If rolling them out doesn't work send them back for a refund. I would rather have a line kit for the truck rather than have a shop install lines and unions They have a potential to leak.

Problem solved.
The guys at the front end shop bent them straight and showed them to me.I then had them cut the newly formed wiggly sections out and they built me two replacement lines and re-flared my old lines(one day old) so the length was right.Took him 15 minutes tops.

This was there best kit and there was no way to lay it flat as it was full of bends and curves.
I asked the guys at the front end shop if this was normal and they said nobody ever sees there brake lines and this was typical of the lines they see.

My original old brake lines were better shaped and have no wiggly sections in them.Live and learn I guess.
