Seems like it should be ok to me. You should be able to do 65 mph in second gear, plus the potential damage would be from over-reving the engine (rather than your trans - which doesn't seem likely).

Give it a few days and see if it is just your imagination.

Thank you sir for the reponse the shop guys told me the same thing but it feels weaker and sounds a little funny but might be my imagination about worring and over thinking it. The truck just hit 40000 miles on both eng and trans

I agree with Keith, that engine damage would be more likely than messing up the tranny. Its probably your imagination cause that seems to be a big culprit with most noises and feelings with the vehicle.

I knocked may last Turbo 350 into reverse at about 45 and it lived. You are imagining things. Jay

I've hit mine into park a couple of times while moving (after the engine had died and I needed to re-start) and it's still here.

Yeah im with Keith over reving your engine would cause more damage faster then knocking the trans down a gear.A turbo 350 is a pretty strong trans even stock i wouldn't worry about it just don't do it again lol.

You know hitting reverse at 65 is something to worry about, but I have done it in the past. That is why I now have floor shifters with a positive lock for going into reverse. Dropping into second at 65 is not that bad, and it may have shaken you up more than the truck.

this must be a common problem with these squares, i knocked mine into neutral on the highway while messing with the radio too.

It's not exactly the same thing, In manual 2nd the Intermediate Band applies that prevents the Intermediate Sprag from overrunning...This is what provides engine braking.
On a Automatic 2nd shift with the lever in Drive....Only the Intermediate clutches apply & the Sprag will overrun if you let off the gas.
