Opinions on running 35s with tbi 454/th400?

Looking at ordering a lift and some new tires for my new crew. I would like to run a set of 35s. It has 3.73 gears with a G80 in the rear.

It currently has the stock size 235s on it and the power is just OK. How badly will the 35s hurt the power?

I am currently torn between a 4" and a 6" lift for it. On my other crew, (86 custom deluxe) I figured a 4" would be fine to run 35s, as I am running 33s on it right now at stock height with no problems. This new crew (90 sliverado) sits almost exactly 1 inch lower than my 86 both front and rear even though both have the same GVW rating and spring count. The 86 is a 350/sm465, the 90 is the 454/th400.

What would you recommend?

Has anyone run 35's with 3.73 gears and a 454?
Where is the peak torque of the TBI 454s?

you would think a 454 should have no problems with 3:73's & 35's. my blazer had a 400sb, 3:73's, & 35's. was'ent a speed demon, but was'ent no slouch either. my crew (also 454,T400) has 38.5's with 4:56's, great off the line, but horrible on the freeway. i would stay with the 3:73's, if it drops your powerband too much, try 4:10's. would'nt go lower than that with the T400, kiss away any fuel mileage you think your getting!

You should be fine with 35s & the 454.My 86 has 35s with a mild 350,465 & 4:10s Really good combo.Good off the line & not too bad for highway cruising...2500 rpm @ 100kms.

I ran a 454/400 with 40' boggers with 3.73s, and could still lite the tires up going around a corner....IMO it's a good compromise, what I love bout big blocks, lotsa torque!!!!!

I'm running 35x12.5s on my K20 and 4.10 gears, which are a little too low for my 454 right now (I could pull a house down), but will be perfect once the Ranger OD goes in.

Are you 100% sure thats just a 4" lift? looks like a 6" those 35's have plenty of room looks great!

I thought it might be a 6" lift myself, but the springs have part #8002 rough country, I looked it up and it says 4"???? But I must say it pretty tall, taller than my 71 with a 4" lift and 35's

It's because 1 tons have a 2" taller frame than half and three quarters do.
