I finally pulled the trigger!
This is a Thermal Arc Fabricator 181i 3-in1 welder. It can do GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW. The base set comes with GMAW and SMAW leads. I have the GTAW torch lead on order and waiting on info on a foot pedal. Can't wait to melt some metal! |
Re: New Toy!
nice machine especially for the shop.
if you dont mind me asking what did it run ya? and where did you buy from, internet or a store? |
Re: New Toy!
Indiana Oxygen in Cleeves OH. $752 for the base setup (Stick/Mig) and once it arrives, another $117 for the TIG torch. The foot pedal is also an additional price yet to be determined. Since this is "lift TIG", the pedal is very optional. it would only be useful sitting at a bench anyway. Welder + gas+small roll of wire, I laid out about $1250 with tax. TIG torch is seperate. That is about $50less than the next best price I've seen and WAY less than MSRP.
The Lincoln Pro MIG 180 was priced at $785 and of course it can only MIG. I thought the Fabricator was a swinging deal. My reason to get the TIG torch now is that need to do a small amount of stainless work and the smallest roll of the cheapest SS wire was amost $80. That is half way to the the TIG price. So, it seemed more economical in the long run. |
Re: New Toy!

Re: New Toy!
Wire from .25 to .35.
I need to wire a plug in. I am going to use a twist lock plug on the wall, cord and welder plug. |
