Not worth the hassle but you can. Compression fittings will be needed to modify the existing ports on that tank. Not a big deal when you couple it with a Walboro 255lph external pump. I would personally rather have a sumped tank epecially under spirited driving but it's not a game ender.

yes you can, but it's a pain, and also why would you want to keep the gastank in the cab?...this is the perfect oppertunity to relocate it....but then again it's your truck....

i'm all for relocating it i was just thinking cost, anyone know a tank that would work that has a internal fuel pump that will fit under the bed?

speaking of cost, which was my main concern as well, its not that big of a deal. I was concerned about having a "professional" safely drill and weld a bung onto my stock tank for the return line. So to save a few $$$$$ and just get her finished, I ran the return line and T-d it into the little hose and the tank filler neck. Actually works great for now, even though in time I want to drill a hole in the top of the sending unit, and run it through that. Main point being, you dont have to modify the stock tank.

You can absolutely use the stock in cab tank. All you have to do is add a return line to your sender, which isn't all that hard. There are pics of mine in my build thread in my sig, the blue '72. If you decide to put the tank under the bed, don't do one of those ultra trick behind the tail light fuel fillers, I did on my orange truck and was horribly dissapointed with it. It worked, but was an extreme PITA to fill! But I don't like the looks of fuel filler doors in the bed and inside the bed isn't any better because you have to open the tailgate and then drag the hose across it. That's why I kept the incab tank on my green truck (also in my sig), but like Kainedogg said, it's better to have a sumped tank to avoid fuel starvation problems when the level gets low, so I sumped it. Works great, but definitley not the easiest way of doing it.

It will fit as far as size, but I'm not sure of the differences between the diesel and gas tanks. Don't forget, you still have to buy the sending unit and the fuel pump.

Yes you can I am using a inline pump and I just drilled in a port for my return line and it works just fine.

Used stock on mine 69 drilled hole in top of sending unit bent hard line and followed the angles of pick up back down and bent a 90 opposite of pickup to return fuel away the pick up
