thinking about bulding a truck
i am thinking about getting all the parts frame cab etc from a salvage yard and building a truck, how hard would this be?

Re: thinking about bulding a truck
As hard as you make it. Last I saw in Utah when I went down is that there's no old cars. They rust or something? But yah you can do it but it may cost you more than just buying one and building it to your likes

Re: thinking about bulding a truck
actually building the truck is'nt so hard, but yeah, it would most likely be way more expensive than modding a runner. then there's the "how badly do i want to drive it" time frame. i've done a couple ground up resto's & learned it takes twice as long as you figured!

Re: thinking about bulding a truck
I actually know a wrecking yard that has quite a few 81 to 86 trucks and a few k5s out there that are just sitting, if i can get me second job i just may try to find a cheap 4 wheel drive 10 or 20 strip it down and rebuild it from parts out there . they have pretty good prices too

Re: thinking about bulding a truck
Look on CL down in Nevada, and you can find plenty of nice ones.
Also check CL inland empire if your down for a bit of a drive. I got my 74 running for $1000 |
Re: thinking about bulding a truck
The biggest issue that I see about building one from the scrapyard is the title. When you start with an at least somewhat complete truck, that headache doesn't happen.
