Adding a door opener to the inside of barn doors?
I would really like to be able to open the barn doors on my Panel from the inside. Is there any way to do this? Was it ever an option?

I'm not sure if it was something that was available but it should be do-able. I will have to look at mine and see. The only problem is I won't be going to go get mine for a couple of days yet. LockDoc |

Thanks, LockDoc. No hurry at all, I'm just thinking ahead anyways. I figured there was a way, but I also think it should at least look somewhat period. Both of my sets of doors are buried in the shop or else I'd dig them out and mess with them, but that's gonna have to wait. IIRC, there is a small access cover on the inside of the 'live' door. (As a carpenter, I call the operable door in a pair the live door)

Mine didn't have that access cover and I don't have a key for the rear lock (it's different than the doors on mine) so I've been locking and opening that door from the inside for years....it would be nice to have a handle though.
I should actually get a full lock set from LockDoc now I'm thinking of it...umm. Subscribed, for any handle ideas! |

I was thinking about that too. Putting a truck inner handle on it shouldn't be too hard with a donor truck door to steal parts from.
Just don't know if the barn door latch has provisions to connect the interior handle linkage to. You could always modify the latch to add the release lever attachment point if it isn't there already. |

An idea I recently had was to use some metal cable and just fashion a pull handle, like the ones that are inside car trunks now. I haven't messed with the idea much, but I think that's what I will try one of these days.
