85 C10 Tailgate questions
 
So I'm getting all my body work started and the guy helping me is a pro, like does this for a living. He says I need a new tailgate all together. The problem is my current tail gate has "Chevrolet" embossed in the metal and LMC doesn't sell them this way. Does anyone know where I can get one like this? Also the grey metal center piece that you can remove from the tail gate is kinda banged up. Is there a company that sells these or can you get them fixed up?

If you're going to put a tailgate band on, then you don't need a tailgate that has "Chevrolet" embossed in the metal since you're not going to see it. Nobody makes an aftermarket band for the trucks. You can find a good used one or an NOS one on eBay.

I was asking about both because if I cant get a new band then I want an embossed tailgate. So is there anywhere I can get one with chevrolet embossed not all the way across but just on the right hand side.

Here's the part number for a tailgate G2358 $440 plus shipping . I don't know if i can share website on here. I would buy a reproduction and cut the letters out of your old tailgate and weld them in the new one.
