What did you do to get the 4" drop in the rear when it was like that.

Its an old trick, I had an extra set of leafs laying around so I removed the short leaf, put the overload on top to flatten the leafs out. Its not something I would recommend.

NICE TUCKS!! I have an 81 with ralleys and i have the 3" springs, shackles, and hangers and wanted to see how it would look. whats the biggest size tire for the rear 15x8 wheels? nothing too tall but wider.

Re: pics on 3-4 inch drop w/ralleys

275 60 15 is the perfect size for 15x8 wheels.
ive heard guys say you can run a 295 50 15 on 8" wheels.. but they bulge like the goodyear blip.

Here is my 1986 GMC Sierra Classic SWB. 2.5" front drop spindles (with stock coil springs) with 2" rear drop hangers and 2" rear drop shackles (total 4" rear drop). Rear has stock 5-layer leaf springs. Mild drop which makes the truck look better but as important, functional to carry a 1/2-ton load without riding on the bumper stops. C-notching not required. Pic with load was 850 lbs.

Rims: 15" x 8" steel OEM Rally Wheels.

Tires: Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s (now discontinued): 255-70R-15 on all corners.

Mine is a 4/4 drop with 2.5" spindles and 1 coil cut from the factory springs, the rear is shackles/hangers. Wheels are 15x8 and 275/60 tires all around.

you're right, saw a truck this weekend with 295/50 r15 and it didnt look good. i like the look of the 275/60 for the rear, thinking of going with different size for the front.
