Air Bag Installation
2 Attachment(s)
So I'm installing my new porterbuilt drop kit and I've hit a question that I'm hoping one of you can assist with tonight - otherwise I will give nate and gang a call in the am. The kit comes with Ride Rite 9000 bags and it's pretty obvious how the top of the bag connects to the bridge using a couple of bolts - what isn't clear to me is how the bottom of the bag attaches to the lower bag mount - the bolt for the bottom of the bag isn't but maybe 3/4 of an inch long and as you can see from the picture the nut in the bottom of the bag is recessed about maybe 2 inches up into the center of the bottom of the bag - do I need to put some air into the bag to be able to bolt it up, will the bag just compress under weight or am I just plain missing something obvious - any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Air Bag Installation
just pull it out a little and bolt it up, it will be fine. I have those on the back of my truck, they ride like glass, so much smoother than a double convoluted bag.

wasn't able to just pull it out by hand - I guess maybe I'll try pulling some air to it using the compressor?

Re: Air Bag Installation
its a sleeve bag so it just collapses around itself.
id put a couple of psi in it to just bolt it in. the bags are a tad thicker in the area of rub for design purpose find some air compressor fittings and a butterfly valve or even a schrader fitting and reducer http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/...ps70b6e5c5.jpg |
Re: Air Bag Installation
Thanks guys - first bag job so I'm a little out of my element - last night's education was on pinion angle at ride height etc - learning a ton along the way. Thanks again - I'll give that a go.
