Oil pressure sender 04 Silverado

Hi I have an 04 Silverado with a leaking oil pressure sender. Any idea what all has to be removed to get to it? It has a 5.3.

Some people take the intake off, but I would start with just taking the plastic cover off and see how that goes. They make a special socket you can get for $10 at the parts store. With it and a swivel, you should be able to get it.

I'll give that a try. Last time I replaced it the motor was on a stand. I have the socket from then.

Thanks for the response.

I just replaced it on my 06 GMC, i took the plastic off, and using a series of extensions and flexible adapters, and the special socket that takes them off got it out. but not after scrapes a lot of foul language and a little luck.... the next time i do it it should only take 10 minutes, but the first time it will take you about an hour (depending on luck)

The unit is a bit pricey my parts guy charged me about $50 for OEM AC Delco

a 9inch 3/8 extension and 10 dollar lisle socket straight up no swivels. remove plastic hood and lay on top of engine, left hand behind engine to line up socket, right hand to hold ext. straight up and turn ratchet. only30 min. 15 spent figuring wrenches. old money. 05 gmc sierra 5.3

Now i think about it i couldn't find a swivel, had to use a single extension its one of those things once you figure it out you got it. Also it would have helped if i had smaller hands.
