Wheel Stud Knurl
How bad would it hurt to put a stud that has a knurl of .530 into a 1/2 hole.
Is it even possible? I measured the holes on the hub and they are 33/64. I need to get this done today and doing an online search through lowes and home depot cannot find a 33/64 or a 17/32 drill bit. This is for a tire carrier so no worries about it failing on the road. |
Re: Wheel Stud Knurl
Just tap your flange for a 1/2 inch fine thread bolt and run it in from the back side. No knurl needed. But a 33/64= .515, that may work out with a 530 knurl

Re: Wheel Stud Knurl
What was the stud before the Knurl? Sounds to me your worried about a .030 difference. Which is not alot in all perspective. When you knurl something is it causing the metal to expand, so when you intall it the knurled part will squeeze down when you press it into the 1/2 hole. its supposed to be an extreme tight fit.
