Muffler
Heya guys, I am looking to buy a new muffler for my truck. I am not going with a fancy, expensive system, but I do want it to sound alright. What is the cheapest buy but sounds the best? A new muffler and I am on the road with the truck :)
|
Aerochamber's are only $60 compared to flowmaster's $100 or more
|
I hear that that the Hemi Super Turbos are pretty quiet and sound good, but I'm going with the Aerochambers.
|
Eithe the hooker AeroChambers or the Hooker Maximum Flow's. Either are around $60.

I am not looking at any sort of performance mufflers, just a standard muffler, I don't know the first thing about muffler brands or what I should even be looking at. I just want a standard muffler that doesn't make my engine sound like a modern day truck, I still want my roar, but I want to be able to pass my inspection...
|
If you want just a standard muffler, go to NAPA and get a Walker brand. They are pretty much a standard OEM type replacement muffler. I think a Shucks, Kragen, etc. carries them also.

Canadian Tire it is then. 30 bucks is something that I can afford thankfully. So basically just grab a "turbo" muffler? Any specific brand names of these turbo mufflers?
|
Alright, I stopped by Canadian Tire today, they didn't have anything but some other OEM muffler for my truck...
Who else stocks these mufflers? We have a UAP NaPa and other typical muffler shops around as well as a couple custom places... |
Argh, looked all over the park, and the cheapest I could get for an O.E.M was 75 bucks!! Canadian tire had one for 45, but they didn't have any left in stock, so those vultures of custom muffler shops got to eat me alive :(
Update: So I call my father about it, he tells me that Canadian tire has this big warehouse and that they likley could get one in within half a day or so. (thanks for telling me now dad, sigh) So I call the place that I got the muffler from, and the jerks simply wouldn't help me and just tell me to bump it up with some sort of 10 dollar attachment (I told them it was the wrong size and that I wanted to get a refund). I insist that I want a refund, so he tells me to hang on and hangs up on me. I'm gonna send my father down there to straighten things out. Talk about ripping someone off becuase they are younger and don't have experience with this kinda thing... To put it short, I got burnt and I am not planning on buying any more parts myself unless it is something I can do some real research on, or I know what I am buying 110% |
Well, I just called again, got a different dude, told him my situation, and he told me that I could bring it back, but it would cost me ten bucks for the work they did on it before I got it (the guy spent five minutes cutting it up and grinding edges etc) unfortunately, it would have cost ten bucks to get there (I live about 10 minutes away) I would have lost ten bucks for the machining, and only gained 10 bucks. So I just installed this one. At least this one is GM Certified, whereas the other one was just some sort of no-name brand.
