Yes I bought another one 1964 C 20 LWB
5 Attachment(s)
Ok, now before you start laughing- here's the scoop- This older couple calls me, knowing we rebuilt old trucks and wants to know if I'd be interested in a 1964 Chevy c20. of coarse I said yes, since they are only about 10 miles from me. I load up and go look. First impression wasn't good, but as I looked at it, I realized there are some parts worth saving- front clip is decent, hood pretty clean, even has all four hubcaps!
Intersting part -- the driver's side inner fenderwell has a stamped(appears OEM) indentation and a second battery tray.(last picture-not very good angle) All looks original to me, but will inspect more when I haul it home. The 250 spun over and tried to start, but wouldn't quite. Confident it will run. Here's a few quick pics. And the best part- was only a $100 bill! w/ original title and keys |

At a hundred dollar bill......can you really go wrong? I think not.

I'm glad you put the pics in there, that is really cool. Do you have a plan for it yet?

This was too easy to pass up. Getting it out of it's "resting spot" may be fun:lol: |

I have a complete dually disc brake front end I've been trying to sell, but no luck. May slide it under and follow Dino's dually idea. I have a 6.5 turbo diesel and an allison sitting in a corner......:metal: |

Hey Tincan66,
Nice old rig ya got there! Looks like a good restoration project. How did the huge bang on the side of the bed get there? Looks like somebody t-bone it with a dozer. I have a 64 just like it except the motor......and the color. Minus a couple of dents......:lol:. Anyway good luck with it.:metal::chevy: |

Me and the daughter decided last night that we're going to build the C 20, but it'll be next winter. Got the LWB driver to finish up a few things on and really want to get back on the 'Burb.
Preliminary plan, using what we've got laying around: front X member and disc front end from '70 C 30 (dually) 14 bolt rear 3.73 w/ disc brakes 6.5L turbo diesel w/ Allison auto may or maynot use bed- might go with a Western Hauler style. Will stick with coil springs all around. May try to find some 19.5's for it. This may all change 10 times before we start- letting the "apprentice" come up with a plan( I did retain the power of Veto, tho ) |

Would love to see a cummins in that thing! The second generation 24 valve turbo diesel with dual turbos would be awsome! Make sure ya run some diesel stack out the back of the cab.

Re: Yes I bought another one 1964 C 20 LWB
Just got a lead on a '64-'66 C 30 dually, just a few miles up the road. Going to look at it tomorrow. Will post pics of the find, whether I get it or not. If not I will post the info, in case some else is interested.
Trying to save as many of these as possible, they're not going to be around forever. |

Not so sure it was sold to the wrong person. The people I got it from have owned the truck since the mid-70's. didn't get a chance to get away long enough to haul it home today, looking like will be the weekend before I get there.

Re: Yes I bought another one 1964 C 20 LWB
What little history I got in a short conversation- it was a daily driver up until the mid to late 90's- then retired to pasture duty, hauling hay to cattle(hence the bale spear) No mention of any camper, etc, which might have been before them. IF it ever had one, a couple hooks on the side doesn't mean anything, they could be tarp tie-downs, which would fit better with a vehicle used for hauling farm supplies/grain.
I like the fact that is has character- it was definately used as a truck, which it was designed to do. Either way the history is irrelevent to me, as it will never get restored anyway. It'll get built for a specific duty, with the necessary modifications/upgrades. |

You can't beat the price Tincan no matter if you restore or part it out, and good luck on the burb you spotted hope that works out...Vernski:lol:

Found a replacement bed today- it's even almost the right color!. Lots of decent parts on this one too. Doors appear solid, NO speaker holes! LOl. Cab floor/rockers, decent from what we could see. Was another good bargain, got it home, today.
As for the Suburban- let's just say i should add BuckShot Repelant to my travel bag! NOT an enthusiastic owner willing to part with it. Was told I'd seen all of I am going to see and to not come back!. Apparently he's been asked to sell it before. Must be one of those "roundtoit" projects. That's ok, I understand, I was not offended. I am resorting to Google Earth to locate the C 30 I was told about. It isn't anywhere I can find it from the directions given, so going to use a little NASA technology to find it. The only reason I think this might work- they were in this area in December re-mapping. |
