Everyone who uses BRAKE CLEAN should read this

I dunno if this has been posted before, but even if it has, it should be reviewed.

A buddy sent this to me. I dunno if it's true, but I certainly will be more careful. I'm sure I've used brake clean before welding in the past.

Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. Maybe this should be posted in the main forum as well?

Re: Everyone who uses BRAKE CLEAN should read this

Thanks so much for the life-saving post Z16!

Most folks are vaguely aware of chemical reactions; ammonia & bleach,
oxygen & grease, etc but now that argon is becoming more common in
the home garage, it's doubly important to pay close attention when buying
and using chemicals.
Luckily, most Brake Cleaners are now "Non-Chlorinated". Be sure to
check the can when shopping and read the label!

Thanks for the post (this should be a sticky IMO, a lot of people don't know this.). When I got my Miller syncrowave a few years ago, first thing I did was grab the closest can of cleaner (which just happened to be chlorinated brake clean), cleaned up some aluminum and start welding. Noticed a funky smell, but kept going. Felt sick after. A quick google later and I've only used acetone since.
