I only had the 2004 Harley Sportster for 4 months and rode it 3 times, because the weather was so crappy. So this guy wants to sell his truck or trade it for a motorcycle. I called him, we exchanged pictures, and the rest is history. He originally wanted some boot but I told him the only way I would trade was straight across. Let's see who can tell why this is a "rare" truck...:)

The engine is new and hasn't been fired yet, trans is rebuilt, transfer case has been gone through, , front end rebuilt, frame was professionally done, blasted and painted with black Imiron paint, new 3" lift springs, new rockers and corners on an otherwise solid cab, nice bed with no wood in the floor, tach dash, & nice tailgate. Quite a few new parts came with the truck and receipts for all of the work done to it. (over $8000 in receipts not including bodywork & paint). Now all I have to do is put the jigsaw puzzle together...:)

Ol Blue K20 actually hit the nail on the head. It's what I like to call a "fantasy truck", longhorn 4x4 conversion. The 4x4 frame was professionally lengthened 6 inches.... There were none of these built by GM.

That truck has some real potential. Personally I hope you take those wheels and tires and put em back on the covered wagon they came off of.

You gonna finish it and sell, or keep?

Come on Mark, I always told my wife I was going to get up in the world and this is the only way I can do it..... As short as I am I will have to take the wheels and tires off and set it on the ground just to be able to work on it.

For now let's just say I'm going to finish it, 'cause I don't know.

I think this may be the only time I've read those words on this forum.

Congrats on the truck, Leon - that's going to be cool!!

It's beautiful... except for those, you know. Seriously, it looks brand new.

Is the rear driveshaft installed backwards?

That was the first thing I saw after those hideous wheels.

Beautiful truck! I would run some white steelies with caps if I had it. Either way, it is and will be a real head turner. Congratulations!

Them auction shows call them phantom cars.

Those wheels should make you a good penny for some good looking ones, just find a Caprice with regular wheels. ;)

Hey i like the wheels gives it a classy new twist on it. You guys are to old fashioned to not like them. All in fun guys all in fun. Im young. Not everything has to be factory. And since this truck isnt a factory truck why not give it the shine it deserves. Id trade my truck for that in a heart beat. I want a k series.

Yes it was, but not now. The steering column was in upside down also, and the heater box was put together wrong. I have all of that corrected now.

I think you hit a home run Leon. I'm an old fart (66) and I think the wheels look great. Can't wait to see it done.

Re: Well, I Traded The Harley For A "RARE" Project Truck

Lots of potential. The wheels are definitely an acquires taste- I've seen too many of the 'donk' style cars around here and I am not impressed with that particular custom style. I had ideas of building a Longhorn 4X4, but it looks like a short wide 4X4 will be next on the agenda- after the '70 C10, the Corvette facelift, the '36 Plymouth resurrection and those damned '32 Fords.

nice truck/project. I dont like the bigger wheels on the offroad trucks but yours looks ok,might look a little better with 17" wheels.Long bed lifted trucks are always a favorite of mine.
