bed angles are rotten. will need to be removed---ugh. bolts rusted & frozen--ugh. Let the fun begin.

It looks like you need to replace the metal stripes between the wood. If that is the case, make it easy on yourself and grind the bolt heads off from the top. It will save you a lot of greif, trust me.

Dude - I am hearing voices in my head. I've been dreaming about the stupid bed wood for the past week. Last night I dreamed my neighbor gave me a big stack of oak planks, but when I came back with the handtruck to take 'em home, they'd turned into a big mess of snakes... I stood there watching them writhe and squirm, and I was thinking, 'How the hell am I going to get all these snakes to quit moving so I can mount 'em on the cross sills?'

^^^ Yeeeeeeeeeep....there's some therapy issues right there! LOL

Good luck with the project. I am going to do the same thing this summer to my stepper as well, only the planks are not as bad as yours.
