73-80 gate but im seein large bands in almost all years in brochures

Looks like 77 or newer, maybe 78+. It has the slot for the trunnion, so not 73/74, and it's missing the flat iron tabs above the latch that inserted into the rear stake pocket.

I have a 77' and it had the Cheyenne package, once the wide chrome band was removed, it looks just like the one that you have.

Looks like a new truck take off....76 -80

Does not appear to have the 81 up lower extension...need a side on pic to tell

If you go thru color charts you can find what year that color was available

Not a 77 since the trim inserts are black. Must be a 78-80.

Yes ,it's in perfect condition, definatly a takeoff tailgate.

There is the tabs I was looking for, most likely pre-'77. I remember now, '77 & special edition trucks were yellow stripe molding, and given the tabs it isn't 78'+, leaving '75/'76. :D

75-76 thats all the closer youll get unless its a one year color info on trunions is correct if its quick release its not 73-74 like n2trux said all 77 had yellow insert.

regardless of year that thing is beautiful!

is it possible to mount the narrow Cheyenne tailgate band on a 87 tailgate? if not, would the body lines on my 87 matchup/align if I swapped tailgates with a 75-77 tailgate to use the narrow band? I like the narrow band more than the wide one on my 87

Wow thats a beauty, I think it can be a 73- whenever they dropped the cheyenne trim exckuding the 77 cause no yellow strip of course. I really like that moss green color, gm had some great colors for these trucks back in the day.

Damn that's a pretty tailgate. I need one for my truck, but that'd put my truck to shame haha
