two 69-70 outer grills
 

I have these two outer grills, I have them sanded and smoothed out, there ready to polish, But I'm thing about going with chrome powder coating instead. Which way would I come out better, Polish or powder coat. Somebody give me an idea, on what there worth, Thanks Pete

The powder coaters I have talked to say that the legitimate chrome powder, like the stuff Bilstein uses for their coil overs is about a three or four stage process that is very expensive. The regular two stage reflective chrome powder that they have is very nice, I have it on my upper and lower control arms, but it is not shiny chrome it is just silver. A polished grill looks much better in my opinion. and if you keep this truck in the garage it will be shiny for a long time between polishes.

Thanks for info. I did talk to a powder coating tech, he said they'd do a 2 stage process, and their chrome looked more like a brushed aluminum. He priced me $125 each to powder coat. I may just polish them. I'm partial to the shine also. Thanks Pete

Now you could polish and then clear anodize. it dulls the polish a bit but then you never have to polish again.
I did not do that to my grill because I did not have the money at the time. It really does not take long to re polish after it is polished the first time. But like I said if it is stored outside then it is not going to take long for it to oxidize.

That is one nice shiny grill. I did one once before, and shot it with a good quality clear coat. I was told it would last a few years, I sold it, so I don't know how that turned out. I decided to polish them instead of the powder coating. Have about half of one done now. Going to try to sneak in a couple hours tomorrow and finish it up. I hope :) have to take care of momma tomorrow also. Really nice grill, you did a great job
