Need help with 1972 chevrolet c30

Greetings everyone...I am from Trinidad(Caribbean) & need help finding body parts for a 1972 Chevrolet c30 double cabin.....any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

We might be able to help. But a double cab Chevrolet C30 was not a US production vehicle. All here were modified by outside companies. Post up some pictures so we have something to start with.

That looks to be a '73 or '74 model.

Does LMC Truck not ship to the Caribbean?

Re: Need help with 1972 chevrolet c30

^ Yep. I agree. It is possible the original owner bought it in 72 but the truck is a 73-74.

I would start by looking for those model years. Going to be tough to find good parts if the weather is not friendly to non treated metals.

That is a rough looking truck. Why are you fixing it? Not wanting to stifle your creativity, but just wondering why that one?

Ok so its a 1973 model...I know its in bad shape but we only have two on the island...american vehicles are not common here...you can count them...our vehicles are imported from Japan/uk....we use right hand drive vehicles here

Sure does, you would be best to move on over to the square body board. This body style ran from 73-88. Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you on a rust prone truck.

In fact '73 was the first year of the 3+3 crew cab in both 20 and 30 series trucks. Here is a picture of a 73 GMC.

Re: Need help with 1972 chevrolet c30

Nothing wrong with the next body style. It just looks like you need to replace every piece of sheetmetal on it. It probably runs, the 350 and TH400 are quite sturdy, but if the doors, bedsides, and hood are as bad as the photo then there is probably rust in the cab corners and floor too-maybe the frame. Why doesn't the RH front door close? Is that roof damage? For all you will spend on this one, you could buy and import a nicer one.

thanks for the info...I wanted to import one in better shape but our laws do not allow us to import vehicles older than 6 years old and they must be right hand drive...however we can import parts;cabin/doors/tray etc...

There is a 73-87 parts forum on this site, which may be a good place to start. You have to be a paid member to post Wanted-to-buy ads.

Also, you could try one of the junkyard locator sites, for example I've had luck with car-part.com. Then you can call junkyards who have those year trucks in and see if they are willing to deal with export and shipping.

You have decided to take on quite a challenge with that one - best of luck!

If you have enough money and skill, anything can be fixed. If I were in your position, I would do the best I could with that truck. I'd say it's worth fixing.

I agree, plus Trinidad, right hand drive?? too cool. If you can post up some pics of that too, please. It would be interesting to see. With there only being two on your island, I'd do whatever I could to build it.

Can the 73 GMC body parts work on the C30?

Pretty much the same truck except for detail and trim parts. C3500 = C30

that's the oldsmobile 5.7 diesel...that's probably what it came with from factory...some had 350 and 454 v8 gas engines too
