GMPP 12486570 Dual Plane Aluminum Intake for Vortec Heads SBC

1 Attachment(s)
I bought this intake used at a swap meet a few years ago and have not needed it, so it is time to part ways. It appears to have been run very little, if any. There are no cracks, stripped threads or other flaws. $200 shipped to the lower 48.

Paypal Ok, you pay the fees. I ship every Saturday, so please be patient.

I have no idea other than the eight head mounting bolts are straight up and down.

This intake fits vortec heads only. When i first bought it I sat it on a 97 chevy 350 that i pulled from a wrecked c1500 and dropped the bolts in and snugged down.

Re: GMPP 12486570 Dual Plane Aluminum Intake for Vortec Heads SBC

There are no center bolt holes on this intake like the ones found on non vortec heads. Non vortec use twelve bolts, this one uses eight.

I think you are confusing this with the tbi intakes that had the same # of bolts but the centers were at a different angle.

I run GMPP FASTBURN heads that have two bolt patterns based on VORTEC heads design for obvious reasons. I just need to know the head angle degree on the product you are selling.

Re: GMPP 12486570 Dual Plane Aluminum Intake for Vortec Heads SBC

The intake is packed away with my swap meet stuff and i only go out to where its stored on thursdays and fridays. I cant imagine it not being compatible with any heads that use the eight bolt vortec mounting design. As mentioned above, i have bolted this intake to a stock 97 vortec 350.

This will fit your heads. Run the part number through Summitracing.

Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the mounting angle of a vortec intake is the same as all previous generations of sbc engines, however the intake bolt mounting bolt angles differ on vortecs as opposed to all other sbc's. Vortec mounting bolt angle is set at 72° from flat or 18° from perpendicular of the head sealing surface, where as all previous generation SBC is at 90° or true perpendicular from the head/intake sealing surface. If your heads have dual pattern, then obviously this intake will fit as well as other original SBC intake designs however intake port placement will need to be verified since the vortec is slightly tapered to the top vs traditional SBC ports that are conventionally rectangular in shape.

Keep in mind that this intake is a spreadbore design carb mounting...ie Qjet, Thermoquad or Holley spreadbore only.....standard squarebore Holley and Edelbrock will not bolt on without an adaptor.

The non vortec heads pre 1986 or so has the intake bolts at a 90 degree angle to the lntake mounting surface.

I am not sure what the exact angle is on vortec intakes, but the are straight up and down when viewed on the engine.

This intake has carburetor mounting pattens for square bore or spreadbore carbs.

Many of the questions being asked can be answered by looking at the photo above.

To clear up any confusion, the two bolt holes seen on the left side of the intake are not intake mounting holes. These are for accessory bracket mounting only.

actually, 86-95 has outer 8 intake bolts @ 90° to the head/intake mounting surface as well, the center 4 on 86-95 are straight up which Vortec heads do not have. This intake will not fit 86-95 heads, only 96 and up Vortec

No... Left side of photo is also left side of manifold... There are no center bolt holes on the right side.

"Intake manifold mounting surfaces are drilled and tapped for both Vortec and conventional raised port style intake manifolds."

I am confident that this intake manifold will fit your heads. So much so that if it does not, i will refund tour money and I will pay return shipping if they do not.
