What would you pay.....
And/or what is something like this worth....
1973 chevy c10 short bed step side, looks to be mostly original, looks to be fairly straight, rust situation unknown but no visible, 250 inline six, three on the tree. Runs good but would probably need all service parts and fluids changed to be dependable. Shape of interior unk but probably inline with rest of truck. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: What would you pay.....
I agree with izzy with what you described I would say any where from 1800-2500 bucks tops depending on how good of shape you think its in

pictures would be worth 1000 words in a situation like this

Re: What would you pay.....
I'll see if I can get some today.....going to look at it.....he's asking 4500......I know that's high.....alot of things are in my neck of the woods.

Re: What would you pay.....
no pics...forgot phone....all original....12 bolt rear diff.....runs great....shifts nice....body panels mostly straight......some bodywork done to cover up common cancer areas: little on the hood face (but hood is not bowed and is repairable), foot well/kickpanels on both sides need some repair, battery side inner fenderwell (under battery), interior clean but needs, passenger side door has some cancer (repairable)......bed in good shape (nothing either way), heater disconnected and bad.
thoughts? |
Re: What would you pay.....
If it runs good that's a plus, sounds like years of bad cover up body work 2000 grand is the most I would go that's a fair price

Re: What would you pay.....
And again, if i may reitterate this point. it is a pre-smog truck, regular sheet metal and other parts can be replaced, as long as the cab is cancer free.. and as long as the misses is ok with it, pay what ever you can afford. pre-smog in good condition can fetch a pretty penny if you are wanting to fix it and sell it.
just my $0.18 worth (adjusted for inflation) -Izzy |
Re: What would you pay.....
No rust would be about 2k up were I live tops. A couple of early shorties went for $700 but they were pretty beat and gone

Re: What would you pay.....
In Calif, $1500-$1800 tops. That 6 with 3 spd hurts it. Doesn't sound all that cherry and it's a 73, a 67-72 would be worth more but not anywhere near $4500.

Re: What would you pay.....
I would not pay more than $2500.

Re: What would you pay.....
I was thinking $1500 when I read your discription of the condition cause I thought California vehicles were suppose to be rust free. I don't however take the smog thing into consideration.

Re: What would you pay.....
I ended up passing on the local 1973 short bed step side, it was just a little too much $$ vs. the things I would have to replace/repair....but it did run sweet even with over 200k on it.
However another deal presented itself that I couldn't pass up on, a 1977 short bed stepside, essentially the same truck, only it's in slightly better condition(so I'm told), 3 on the tree converted to 3 on the floor, only 85k on it, minimal rust. Only bummer is it's a 77.............but............I do have a current registered 73 cab in the garage so the pre smog gods will still shine down on me! |
