My Decision
 

Hey guys .

Well after a come to god talk with a few friends an the Lady friend i spend about 10 hours a day out messin with one of my trucks. Im in high school and i dont socialize much ive realized lifes to short an i need to start livin more so im not doing anything crazy with my truck im gonna get it all together prime it paint er a flat army green primer an paint a set of steelies black with some rough country tires an caller good to go , my trucks pretty rough as it is so im just gonna bite the teenage bullet and have fun with her an live a little. so basically im sayin my trucks ending up a plain jane D/D till i find a better truck then ill start back up on the Restoration . Like GASoline71 said Just have fun with her haha or somthin like that ,

Yup, but when your 30 or 40 you will be regretting getting rid of it, have fun with what you have, life is short and honestly...you might not have another day! Just be happy that you have a c10!! Hahaha

My truck is rough all over, with cheap satin midnight blue rattle cans. Body doesnt line up right. Gots dents all over and tons of areas where old paint chipped off but who cares. As long as you got it running,drivable and safe. I say thats all that matters. Doesnt need all that fancy stuff. I am a poor man and I to have other goals in life. My truck will get me to those goals and I can add lil things to it that arent so expensive. Have fun with what you have and dont compare what you have tp others. Just enjoy life. I too am a loner and dont socalize with people other than at work if I have too but for the most part I work and come home and do things to my truck and spend only what the truck needs not want. Also to add I am not a complete loner. I work on my truck with my Dad. If it wasnt for him I would be lost on my truck and life.

It's my opinion he was saying enjoy your truck! :)

LOL... You'll enjoy it waaaaaaayyyyy more when you stop trying to fix what ain't broke, and tearin' it apart for the sake of tearin' it apart. :) You're young... get 'er back together and run the dirt roads in it with your buddies... hit the hamburger joint to check out girls, tinker with it when it NEEDS it, basically... drive the hell out of it and have fun in the process. :)

When I was your age I ran around in a beat up 1963 Chevy C10 with a 283. My buddies and I beat the hell out of that truck, and loved every minute of it. The only time I worked on it was when I broke something, or something meeded replacing (like a starter or generator/alternator). I rewelded that frame so many times... I got rerally good at using an arc welder to patch up all the cracks and tears. I was only 17 the day I sold it (for $100 bucks!), and it still had river mud caked up in the fender wells. :)

My point being... is that ol' '63 was the coolest truck I've ever owned... and it was bone stock with only one hubcap left. I don't regeret selling it, because it was a hunk of crap... but I had fun in it! So get out there and drive it... but most important... get off the interweb with a bunch of old truck dorks (me included), and go have fun! You'll thank me later! :)

I messed with cars way too much in High School and not enough with the girls. I think you are on the right track-get it running enough to enjoy and find a balance in life. I have a son in High School now and wish I had balanced my life then as well as he has now. My .02.

Dude your life is just beginning. I'm 39 and I can't even remember when I was in high school. Do what u enjoy. You have lots of time to socialize and whatever. Life isn't that short. You have a LONG ways to go. But I do agree with the stop tearing it apart advice. Drive it and have fun.

I say do what you enjoy, but you do need to get out of the garage every now and then. Most teenagers these days are either up to no good, or playing video games.So, I think your doing just fine. My teenager plays guitar, so he just has a couple friends that play guitar as well and he gets up with them every now and then. Other than that he sits in his room and learns a new song. I'm "unsocialable" as well. I'm happy just hanging out here on the farm and messing with something, truck, tractor or some farm repair that needs to be done. My wife (who I met because she worked for me) is the social one. She will invite people over and I'm forced into socialization...lol but that usually includes grilling something and a beer or two.

Good move. High school should and will be some of the best times of your life. You will have plenty of time for that big restoration project after college when real life sets in. :)

I was in the same boat you were in. It was the summer before my senior year in high school and I had the same decision to make. I decided to do a full blown frame off restoration and I wouldn't change a thing if I could. I've learned so much that I can apply to future projects and I'm gonna be turning 20 soon with one of the nicest trucks I could ask for. Either way, keep the truck and if you decided to restore it now or later you'll always appreciate it.
