Bucket Seat Question

Is the right mounting base on the driver's bucket seat the same as the right base on a bench seat truck? It looks like it, but I need confirmation. My right base has a lot of slop/rocking chair feeling to it and I'd like to replace it.

Re: Bucket Seat Question

As far as I know both sides are the same. At least it looks like it in my 68 GMC. I have the seat out of my 69 Chevy and could double check but it's 20 miles out in the country. If no one else has a definite answer for you, I'll measure and check it out when I go there either tomorrow or Monday.

Re: Bucket Seat Question

Thanks for the response. They sure look similar. There are some in the local junkyard I can check in a few days. If you want to look that would be great, but don't go out of your way.

Thanks again!

Re: Bucket Seat Question

The bucket seat tracks are not the same as bench. They share similar parts, but the bench tracks are about 3+" longer and won't fit buckets without some mods.

The adjuster service part number breakout is confusing.
To be clear these are left and right per application. So left and right are just that for the driver seat be it a bench or bucket. Passenger bucket/utility seats are not being addressed here below.

69-70 left 10-30 is the same for bench and bucket seats.
69-70 left Panel, Blazer utility seat is different.
69-70 right 10-30 & Blazer bench and utility seats
69-71 right bucket seats only
71-72 left bench seat only
71-72 right bench seat only
71-72 left bucket seats only
72 right bucket seat only

Sorry, misread your question and gave you a bunch of useless bucket seat mounting info!

Don't you dare EDIT it out! However if you could included on the bucket seat install FAQ that would be really good.

Re: Bucket Seat Question

I'd say the parts book you have is only for certain parts and does not break down the entire LH or RH drivers assembly usage info. The bench seat mounting holes in the cab are further aft than the buckets, so for sure the assemblies would have different part numbers. At least this is true for the 70 bucket seat truck that I have.

Re: Bucket Seat Question

OK, I just looked at the pictures I took of my floor when everything was out. The rear holes that are plugged on the passenger's side for the bench seat track are, if fact, farther toward the back of the cab than the driver's side tracks so the bench track has a longer "footprint". I guess I was just indulging in a bit of wishful thinking.

Thanks to everyone for your responses!

Jim
